Not chancing missing the connecting flight ever again. This September we will fly direct to Madrid, train to Cordoba for 2/3 days and then rent a car for our final destination of Zahara de los Atunes. Yes there is usually a secondary flight within 4 hours, but even that is not guaranteed as you maybe put on stand by status for the next flight. Reason: the connecting time is usually 1 hour to 1 hour/15 min which is absolutely not enough time between flights.
We fly Boston to Jerez via Madrid every September on Iberia and have missed our connection to Jerez 3 of the last 5 times. And then you are met with enormous lines to get thru immigration. I was thinking of taking it slow at Seville, take a day trip to Cordoba, and then take a train to Granada, stay for 2 or 3 nights and fly out from Malaga (connecting flight at Barcelona or Madrid) back to NYC. I am thinking it will be easier to acclimatize the jet lag by flying to Seville first for I am planning to stay 4 nights at Seville and 2 days in Granada only and don't want to hit off to Alhambra right away.
